NIBA sets out to develop and promote high standards of professional practice for insurance brokers in Australia.

East West Insurance has committed to upholding the Insurance Brokers Code of Practice standards which has been created by NIBA. You can read the Code here.

The Insurance Brokers Code of Practice sets out the standards that Insurance Brokers must meet when providing services to their clients.

What standards apply to the Code of Practice:

1. Compliance with all relevant law.
2. Transparently manage any conflicts of interest that may arise.
3. Clearly tell you if we do not act for you.
4. Clearly tell you about the scope of covered services.
5. Discharge duties diligently, competently, fairly and with honesty and integrity.
6. Tell you how services are paid for before they are provided and answer any questions you may have.
7. How money is handled in accordance with relevant law and any agreement with you.
8. Ensure all staff are adequately training to provide the relevant services and will maintain this competence.
9. Respond to catastrophes and disasters in a timely, professional, and compassionate manner in conjunction with any industry-wide response.
10. Ensure the internal disputes handling process meets the Code Complaints and Dispute process standards.
11. NIBA is supported in promoting the Code and make information on the Code (including how to make a complaint) and covered services are readily available to you.
12. Not engage in activity or inactivity that is reasonably likely to bring the Insurance Broking profession into disrepute.

The Code is intended to be a positive influence across all aspects of the General Insurance broking industry including product disclosure, claims handling and investigations, relationships with people who are experiencing vulnerability, and reporting obligations.

If you are concerned that East West Insurance Brokers has breached the Code, you can refer any alleged breaches to the Insurance Brokers Code Compliance Committee here. 

The Committee will then recommend corrective action if needed. If you require a specific outcome such as compensation, an apology, or for your problem to be fixed – you should make a complaint to East West Insurance Brokers (refer to our Complaints Policy here) or the Australian Financial Complaints Authority.
