After almost a decade working as an insurance broker, Greg Rynenberg, our CEO & founder, established his own insurance broking firm with his wife, Debbie Rynenberg. The story of East West Insurance Brokers (EWIB) begins.
EWIB started from a humble beginning in 1984.

WHERE IT ALL BEGAN
Working through the blistering summer heat in a makeshift garage office, Greg secured his first client, the Weller Hotel Group, owned by one of Queensland’s oldest and most respected families in the hotel sector. The Weller Hotel Group remains a valued client of EWIB today.
Operating a growing business wasn’t always a walk in the park, so Greg decided to grow his team. In 1985, a gentleman named David was hired as an account executive to help service more clients to allow the business to expand. The team continues to grow.
A year after EWIB was established, Greg moved his team into a neat little office in the suburb of Coopers Plains. This was where the magic happened, and EWIB continues to grow, and the team continue to expand. After eight years, EWIB had outgrown two office spaces.
The EWIB team settled into our current office in 1998 in the same suburb of Coopers Plains. This office still stands today, and though the team members have changed throughout the years, EWIB’s high level of service remains the same.
EWIB became one of Australia’s first insurance brokerages to join the Steadfast Network, gaining access to valuable resources and connections that have benefited our clients since 1998. Greg became a Director of Steadfast to represent Queensland broking members.
Steadfast was listed on the Australian Stock Exchange in 2013, strengthening its ability to offer more valuable support to brokers. Greg joined a newly listed board as a Non-Executive Director of Steadfast, a role he still proudly holds today.
EWIB's most recent makeover was in 2020, bringing the look and feel of the company into a new decade. This included the logo you see today and much more.
EWIB continues to grow. We’re very proud of our exceptional team, which is progressing from strength to strength. From expert advisors and claims team to our marketing, operational, systems and accounting support crew, we have a seasoned team that enables us to efficiently provide clients with excellent service.
